Brushing and Flossing
While wearing braces it is very important to brush your teeth after every meal to keep your teeth and gums healthy throughout your treatment.
How to Brush Your Teeth With Braces
Brush at a straight angle, using circular, vibrating motions. Be sure to clean the area between the gums and the braces by placing your toothbrush at a 45 degree angle to your gum. You can use the tip of your toothbrush to clean the behind your front teeth.
How to Floss While Wearing Braces
Be sure to floss at least once a day. The floss must be pulled under the archwire. You can use a floss threader to help facilitate this. Push the end of the floss threader under the archwire and pull the floss through. Pull the floss up and down gently between the teeth.
You may use a Proxabrush, which is an interdental toothbrush used to clean underneath and around your brackets and wires. Be sure to use this brush gently to prevent any damage to your wires.
